2020 Summer Camp for Teens in Bangalore Indiranagar at FLUX
We announce the launch of 2020 summer camp for teens in Bangalore Indiranagar at FLUX on Monday, 6th April 2020.
The camp will run for one month. But if there comes up a demand for extension, we can always add another month to it till the schools and colleges are closed. And if your ward’s schools or colleges are closing on later than 6th April, we will allow them to start when they are free and their month will start from that date as such. Your ward can also join the camp for more than a month. They will be charged accordingly for the extra number of days they continue for after their month is over. The camp timings will be 9:300 AM – 12:30 PM on weekdays. But this time we are also introducing evening hours 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM for those who are busy elsewhere in the mornings.
Most Creative Summer Camp for Teens
This summer we are expanding our summer camp offerings to educate our new generation in the world of arts in a fully rounded program. Indian kids and teenagers spend many of their school hours with heads buried in books, memorizing and planning for test taking. Far too often, their arts education is neglected. FLUX is founded with a goal to bring arts to the people, to uplift anyone and everyone through creative expression. Our summer camps allow us the time and space to help students explore their creative sides and find their passions. Immersing themselves in a safe space with highly motivated and educated facilitators will allow them to bloom while having a memorable summer.
Many people feel that they have no dancing ability and they could never be a good dancer. But the facilitators at FLUX have the talent, the patience, experience, and motivation to show that anyone can dance! We also offer yearlong intensive classes as well as drop-in classes. And even those who come for one or two classes leave with a boost in their confidence level. We aim to instill this feeling in our students during summer camp as well. The ratio of student to teacher will allow for intensive education. When students are able to execute an impossible-looking dance move, they feel flying high in the sky!
Students can experience a physical sensation of flying high in the sky during aerial yoga section of our program. The thrill of soaring through the air on our yoga silks will bring a rush to a student of any age. But the agility with death-defying attitudes most teenagers possess has them soaring around the room in seconds. We can hear their shouts of glee echoing off the walls. After the initial rush of flying wears off and the teaching begins, the students will master different aerial poses. The aim is to build strength and flexibility in the arms and the core. Experienced teachers will guide them to safely engage in this rewarding and entertaining exercise.
A large part of the program will also include theater, in two forms. Students will participate in Improv workshops, teaching them to develop their communication skills. It all happens while finding their voice and thinking on their feet. Improv also teaches teamwork, as students will find themselves bonding together to create a scene and solve a problem. This section of the course is facilitated by an experienced Improv teacher. He will bring the core theory of improv to the students – that is, learning to say yes.
They will be able to craft a narrative that has a theme that is important to them. They will be lending a voice to an issue or person that matters. The writing portion will be taught by an experienced American literature teacher. She will help to elevate their English skills while they create their own plays.
Students will perform their plays at the end of their sessions. They will showcase their skills they have learned through the numerous activities and workshops they will have participated in.
While working on their plays and composing them, we will engage in circle sharing and discussion. The themes and emotions that will be brought up through their writings are sure to incite discussions and feelings. There are myriad ways to hold discussions. We will experiment with these different forms in order to bring out the passionate opinions that so many teenagers have. A successful discussion or circle sharing session can be something that stays with someone for life. It may also capture the essence of the moment as a memory. Students will also learn to capture moments in a permanent way as well, through photography.
Photography is an old art form that is currently burgeoning. With a phone in the hand of more than half of the world’s citizens, anyone can be an amateur photographer. But the facilitators who will be working with the summer camp students have the experience and know-how. Hence they will elevate their photography game. If they are aiming to pursue photography as an art form, we have the educators to help. Students will learn the basics of camera settings and features. We go slow as some cameras have so many that it can be overwhelming at first. The course will include basics in composition and framing. Students will be given photography homework, which will help them keep their eyes peeled for the beauty around them. In addition, they will learn different types of photography – portraiture, landscaping, with a focus on street and urban photography.
Art and Design
In our studio that encompasses all forms of arts, students will also be busy in painting and design. Some days, students will work on crafts. And on some others, they may find themselves working on graphic design oriented posters. As another outlet for self-expression, they will have input in their output. We encourage students to really open up and ignore any boundaries in their creations. We encourage them to explore as much as possible while using more traditional mediums like painting and drawing. Their colorful creations are also something they can keep as a memory from their experiences at FLUX.
