Capoeira Martial Art Workshop Facilitated by Tushar Das
This sequence of workshops begins with a Capoeira Martial Art Workshop facilitated by Bangalore’s renowned Capoeira artist, Tushar Das.
Capoeira is a body movement-art-form. It is also dance to some, combat to others, game to yet others and self-defense to the rest. Its origins lie in northeastern region of Brazil where slaves from Africa established the core aesthetics of this art form. After a period of ban, Capoeira made a comeback to Brazilian life in the 20th century. It hasn’t looked back ever since, making its way around the world as a legitimate movement.
In its earliest forms, blades strapped to the ankles or toes of Capoeira exponents would swing vigorously. At times they swung within an inch, close to their opponents’ bodies! It was so as their limbs moved fluidly in various forms of mesmerizing aerial somersaults.
Much like several martial art forms, Capoeira places more emphasis on the oft-neglected aspects of body movement. In fact these oft-neglected aspects emphasize more on stamina, flexibility rapidity and deception. The said emphasis is opposite to the more modern combat arts place disproportionate importance on muscular strength. Also, like other martial art forms, Capoeira focuses on blocking instead of attacking as a philosophy. However, its graceful and acrobatic movements can combine to deal lethal blows when contact places and times their blows well
Tushar Das brings the experience of Capoeira to FLUX on Saturday, April 17, 2021, 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
Aerial Silk Yoga Body Movement Workshop Facilitated by Gopal Dalami

In its core, Aerial Silk is a performance art in which the performers display acrobatics, hanging from a fabric made of silk.
The facilitator, Gopal Dalamihis has brought this graceful and demanding body movement art to FLUX as a workshop. He has toured both, within India and abroad. He has also been associated with Surya Performance Lab-dance and Theatre Company based in Auroville, Tamil Nadu.
In fact he has been with them since 2018 as a dancer, actor and assistant director.
