What Is Acting?
Is acting an art of Imitation? Or is acting an art of Representation? Or else, is acting an art of mere Reproduction?
Well, in the western tradition, it is believed that Acting is originated in the internal being of a body. And then it is thrown out using one’s external body.
But in the eastern or Indian tradition, it is believed that Acting is originated in the external body. Then it is transferred to the internal body.
Therefore, if I have to expose you to a simpler idea of what acting is, I would say the following…
Acting is an art. An actor is a medium through which this art can be communicated or transferred in space.
Our aim as actors is not only to create the life of a human spirit. It is also to express it in a beautiful, artistic form.
Can Acting Be Taught?
Actually, here is abundance in training, techniques, books, and acting directors around. All of them also claim to have their separate keys to success in the film industry. But what we all miss is the most important aspect, i.e., the skill that it requires to be a great actor.
In fact, in this course, we together will try to take baby steps to learn the basics of acting. It will also include the tips and techniques you would need to know as a professional actor.
Whatever your acting style, you will learn the most basic crux of acting the very first. By the end of this workshop, you will also have learnt how to make your audience enjoy your acting. In fact they need to believe you really are the character that you are enacting. You also will learn to transform into your emotions and breathe the life of your character.

Facilitator’s Biography:
Karthik is a theatre professional having 4+years of experience in performing various characters in different play productions. He has also worked with many renowned professional theatre directors, actors, light technicians, music composers and many others. More so, he has assisted several directors in the film making process along with performing in many films and serials.
Karthike also underwent an intensive acting course at the prestigious National School of Drama. He is currently working with various international schools as a speech and drama coach. He has also successfully hosted many theatre workshops.
Workshop Structure:
The workshop consists of two different phases or levels. The first level of this workshop introduces participants to the basic elements of Theatre. But the second level would begin with MasterClasses. In fact they will focus on the three main Key components used in acting. These three components are mind, body and voice. The workshop also provides a general platform for every individual participant. They explore different hidden talents in themselves. The said procedure also helps them grow their skills by providing technical support in their personal style of acting.
